This week... is David Day's last!

Where did five years go? Those are tales for another day...

But fear not... when the journals end, the REAL fun begins right here, and there are MANY payoffs to come for long time readers. I've gotten several e-mails asking if this is it, will HBN end after this week??? HECK NO! When the journals end, the pages from the print book begin running. Right now we're looking at having content here all the way through July! And when that's up, you bet your bottom dollar I have plans for more and more... so definitely keep on reading every day here new believers!

The clock to Wizard World LA and the book debut is counting down... tick tock...

The ring makes sense cos it's just the Talon Symbol, and Talon DID make it after all.

Very, very nice and highly inspirational. Your work and success motivates me (as I'm sure it does for other artist/writers, etc.) to pursue dreams and ideas no matter how difficult the journey may seem.

Hmm... last half of second panel points to the ring being less than beneficial to put it mildly... one must presume it will have identical adverse effects (whatever they may be) on Jack as well.

I can't believe this strip is coming to a close, it is consistently fantastic on a number of levels, as I have said before...

All the best to Team HBN!

Mr. Forever- I'd love to go monthly with it. Or bi-monthly through comic shops, but it all depends. I actually DO have the next 5 issues after issue 4, plotted. And about a years worth of stories beyond that. It's definitely something I'd like to do, but ultimately it will be up to Platinum.

DJ, you open up more worm cans than you close! Arrrgh! If there was a call for it do you have any plans for HBN beyond issue 4? How long a run do you see for HBN if it was picked up monthly? BTW, the cover to issue 3 looks awesome!

There will be more David Day in the books, or past stories told. There's a 5 year gap missing in the journals for this very reason. Many adventures are untold as of now.

Jack King will get his day, and his story is much different, but you get to watch him grow from the very start-- it's yet to be seen if he'll actually become the hero though. WINK!

So this is the last we are going to see David Day? Man I'm sure gonna miss him, he kicked a great deal of asses around here. It would be really awesome to see some of his adventures on a print comic someday... Is there any chance of it DJ or David is gone for good?
Sorry if am being annoying, it is just I liked David Day more than jack king (he´s alright too). Although I don't wanna see him ressurected (like they are probably going to do with Captain America), I truly wanna see more ass-kicking action from the very first HBN.
Oh, and HBN has a lot of fans here in Brazil DJ! Hope someday we will be able to read your comics in portuguese :p

Meh, living in holland i know everything there is to know about the politics back then.

Still, no matter how much i was threatened, i am certain i, myself, would never have tortured, raped, humiliated... not all of that was just orders, too.

But as i said, i bear no grudges. And i grudge no bears :P its not like the netherlands have a "clean" history... or any other country in the world ( except the antarctic. they have never done anything to offend me yet :P ), for that matter. But im stopping this now, HBN is turning into my personal rant page.

reconjsh, I might make that one actually, have to see how busy I am, it's only about 45 minutes from here. I used to live about 20 miles outside Detroit. You're talking about Motor City con at the Novi expo center right? if so, there's a decent chance I will be there. again, depends on my workload and my vacation time (which I AM getting some of this year, or rather TAKING) :D

Issue three of the print book opens up with the TRUE ORIGIN of the Iron Talon. Pretty much all you need to know about him, his motivations, how he survives (if it's really him!) are in Issue Three. It can be preorded RIGHT NOW many places online and at your local comic book shop! Run and tell them! Hero By Night #3!-

International people Forbidden Planet has it for sale as well here:

There are also places like mailordercomics.com selling it.

Ha, I got it right again!

My unbearable smugness is dampened by the knowledge that this is the last week of Day's journal [sniff].

Still so many things we'd like to know about. I'm especially interested in tales of the First Five. Someday?

Yay! I admit I was scared that this comic was going to end too. Since I first started reading it was plain to anyone who could read that HBN was dead and this was his journal so naturally the journal would have to end somewhere. It's good to hear that you will continue on after his death though. Good Stuff :)

lots of conjecture here, nice to see. but Dark Dude, while none of us will agree with the Nazis and their practices, you need to understand that there were many Germans that were forced into service on threats of death to them and/or their familys if they didn't, and as such their hearts were really not in it. there are as always, lots of politics that were involved, and unless you are familiar enough with what was going on from both perspectives, it's better to not conjecture, you never know who you will offend. Nazis = Evil I think we can all agree on that.

Gerardbrown,

The symbol, i am afraid, is definitely positioned pointing up and down. On the ring, indeed, it is the wrong way - i think a designers flaw or something? Of course, HBN, being a good guy, used the symbol to shape the letter H, for hero. But as you can see on this page, the talon clan uses it pointing up and down, the way it was originally meant. I like the way HBN has unknowingly taken a symbol of arrogant nationalism and turned it into a symbol of protection for the oppressed and endangered. The nazi's, too, took an existing symbol (that cross-thingy), and put it to their use. 100 years ago, it was a symbol for fertility, now it will never be used again for anything good - bastards as the nazi's were. My dad never knew his 4 grandparents thanks to them...

But i dont blame the germans of nowadays, they didnt do it.

Most of them didnt, anyway.

Dark Dude, great minds think alike. However, look at the way the symbol is arranged on the ring and chest. Not up and down, Side to side, equality.

BTW chicks who betray superheros are the worst scum of the earth, next to bad boys. This is why boy scouts aren't studs.

The symbol is an expression of that same german wish... to put themselfes above all other peoples, to make a clear distinction between "superior" and "lower" races within the human race.

Am i even close? I think i hit the bulls-eye and the arrow is not even touching the edges. But that's just me.

I have held this back for quite some time.

The terrible truth about the ring...

The awful... terrible truth...

Is very painful indeed.

The ring has been created after countless experiments... countless failures... countless... sacrifices.

What do YOU guys thought the nazis were doing in the concentration camps?

Thousands of people died... for the nazi's dream of creating the ultimate human. THIS is the reason millions of people had their lives ruined, and countless were under horrenduous circumstances killed during brutal operations and experiments. The nazi's would not shun from ANY violence if they could achieve their dream of creating the ultimate human.

And they succeeded.

The result... was the ring.

But the war had taken a turn to the worse for germany by then. The first ring was to be kept and stored... but then a brave american soldier stumbled upon the results of their devilish experiments... turning the deaths of millions into an instrument for the good cause.
